Overcharge is a mechanic in SCP: Secret Laboratory that cause Heavy Containment Zone to be overloaded with power while also forcing SCP-079 out of Site-02's systems.

Ingame

At the start of the game, SCP-079's containment unable to be opened, making it impossible for players to go in there. To unlock the chamber, players will have to find the 3 Emergency Power Stations around Heavy Containment Zone. There are 10 possible rooms they can spawn in. They require a keycard with

to unlock them. Once they are unlocked they can be opened or closed by anyone. A lever must be flipped on the Emergency Power Station to boot it up. When the lever is flipped, SCP-079 is alerted via pop-up. The room will then be marked red on his map, allowing him to tell SCPs where they are. Anyone can cancel the boot-up sequence by pressing E on the red button or the level. After 2 minutes and 5 seconds, the Emergency Power Station will turn on and C.A.S.S.I.E. will announce it.
Once all 3 are turned on, SCP-079's chamber will permanently open up, allowing players to finish the Overcharge sequence. When Overcharge happens, Heavy Containment Zone blacks out, all doors will close and can not be opened. If there is an SCP-079 present, he will be forced out of Site-02 systems and be successfully recontained. After about 10 seconds, power will return to normal in Heavy Containment Zone.
Overcharge will not happen while the Alpha Warhead is going off. Recontaining SCP-079 with Overcharge will not give the MTF Respawn Tickets.

Due to the fact Overcharge closes doors, it can cause people to get trap in a room with an SCP.

If SCP-079 is the last SCP, the Overcharge process will be forced to happen instantly with 3 seconds countdown.

Text-Based Remote Admin

Using Text-Based Remote Admin, one can force an Overcharge in Heavy Containment Zone with the overcharge command. The parameters are as follow: overcharge <duration> <onlyHeavy>. The <onlyHeavy> parameter will cause the blackout to happen in Light Containment Zone if set to false. Forcing an Overcharge with Remote Admin does not kill SCP-079, and is simply only used to blackout Heavy Containment Zone and Light Containment Zone, making this command useful for server events.
