SCP-096 spawns in [[Heavy Containment Zone#SCP-096's Containment Area|Heavy Containment Zone]] in its docile state. SCP-096 has a very audible cry that can warn players of its position. SCP-096 acts as an offensive SCP class, meant to disperse groups of people.

SCP-096 acts as an offensive SCP class, meant to disperse groups of people. SCP-096 is capable of taking out smaller groups of people with ease, but can struggle with larger groups.
==Hume Shield==
* SCP-096 has a base [[Hume Shield]] value of 600.
* If SCP-096 takes no damage for 10 seconds, its Hume Shield will regenerate by 15 HS/s.
* While SCP-096 has Hume Shield, a distortion-like effect can be seen around their body.

== Abilities ==
== Abilities ==
SCP-096 begins the game with 2000 HP and 1000 [[Hume Shield]]. After 25 seconds have passed without the player taking damage, the Hume Shield will slowly regenerate by 40 HS/s.
===Scopophobia===
The Scopophobia is broken up into four stages, ''Docile'', ''Distressed'', ''Raging'' and ''Calming''. SCP-096 starts the match in the Docile Stage.
SCP-096 will enter its enraged state when its face is looked at or when shot at. SCP-096 will 'wind-up' before entering its enraged state. While charging up SCP-096 can move at 2.3 m/s.
SCP-096s 'Wind-up' time depends on the distance and time taken to look at its face.
While Docile, SCP-096 produces an audible crying sound. [[Hume Shield]] will regenerate at a rate of 15 HS/s while Docile if SCP-096 has not taken damage for ten seconds. The Try Not To Cry ability can be used while in the Docile Stage.
If a human looks at SCP-096's face or attacks SCP-096, they become a target. For ten seconds after a target is added, SCP-096 can press the {{Key Press|R}} key to enter the Distress Stage. A small icon will appear in the corner while the timer is active. If the timer ends before the key is pressed, all current targets lose their status as a target.
*(e.g) SCP-096 would become enraged faster if a player looks at his face for a longer duration and a more closer distance; when compared to a player looking at his face at a shorter duration and much farther distance.
Anyone who looks at SCP-096's face or shoots it will become a target. SCP-096 will stay in enraged mode for a base 15 seconds, plus an extra 3 seconds for each additional target, going up to a maximum time of 30 seconds. Targets are made visible by markers visible only to SCP-096 (even targets wearing [[SCP-268]] will be visible). SCP-096 only gains additional rage time during the calm and wind-up states; he will not gain more time while in enrage mode.
While enraged, SCP-096 can do the following:
While Distressed, SCP-096's speed is lowered and they lose perception of all non-targets, including their SCP Teammates. SCP-096's vision will slowly gain a red tint during this process. SCP-096 will slowly transition from crying to screaming. After six seconds have passed, they will then enter the Raging Stage.

* Perform an area-of-effect attack with {{Key Press|Leftclick}} that will instantly kill any target hit by it. Non targets take zero damage.
While Raging, SCP-096 will begin to loudly scream, and is unaffected by the "audio dampening" effect caused by [[C.A.S.S.I.E.]] announcements. SCP-096's maximum Hume Shield will be cut to half of its current value, and its regeneration is paused. The Melee and Charge abilities can be used while in the Raging Stage. Pressing the {{Key Press|E}} key on a gate will cause SCP-096 to force the gate to open and slip through. Other SCPs can slip through the gate at the same time, but humans will instantly die if they attempt to, including non targets.
* Jump very high.

Raging lasts 20 seconds and a meter on screen will slowly deplete to represent the remaining time. Each additional target will add an extra three seconds to this stage, but will never succeed 35 seconds. After the timer ends, SCP-096 will enter the Calming Stage.
* Perform a charge attack with {{Key Press|Rightclick}} that last 0.8s and causes SCP-096 to run at 18.8 m/s.
** Will instant kill targets that 096 runs into
*** Only deals 40 damage to non targets.
** This attack can be used to cause SCP-096 leap over large gaps.
** If SCP-096 charges at a closed gate, he will force the gate open and go through it. The gate then quickly closes behind him.
***Any non-SCPs that try to slide through a gate that SCP-096 is opening will be instantly killed.
** The charge attack has a cooldown after being used. Charging through a gate will force the cooldown to end.
** Any normal doors SCP-096 runs into will break.
* {{Key Press|Leftclick}} on doors to destroy them while enraged.
After his enraged state ends, SCP-096 will enter a 6 second cooldown phase before he can become enraged again. While exiting his enraged state, he moves at 2.3 m/s before going back to his normal docile speed of 3.8 m/s.
While Calming, SCP-096's speed is lowered and their Hume Shield, if not depleted, will be returned to its previous levels. The red screen tint will slowly fade away. This process last only a couple of seconds before SCP-096 re-enters the Docile Stage, where they can immediately gain targets again.

When SCP-096 loses all his HP, it will fall to the ground and curl up, covering its face. It will appear to be sobbing quietly.
===Melee===
While in the Raging Stage, the player can perform a melee attack with {{Key Press|Leftclick}}. The attack has a fairly large arc and will deal 85 damage to targets, with non-targets taking no damage at all. The attack is fairly fast and its wide arc makes it able to hit players easily.
==Countering==
===Charge===
SCP-096 is a powerful SCP, capable of taking down unprepared groups. SCP-096 can be countered by looking at the floor, by doing this, you will not become a target.
While in the Raging Stage, the player can perform a charge attack with {{Key Press|Rightclick}}. The attack will make SCP-096 charge forward in one direction, with little control to turning. Targets hit by this attack will take 90 damage and receive the Concussed [[Status Effects|Status Effect]] for ten seconds. Non-targets hit by Charge will only take 45 damage and receive the effect for four seconds. This ability has a five second cooldown.

It is not a good idea to hide in common hiding spots from SCP-096 when you are not a target; as a smarter SCP-096 might check common hiding spots when they have no more targets. Leaving the room that SCP-096 is in will increase your chances of survival.
While stacking SCP-207 can't make you faster than SCP-096, the speed increase might help you get to a safe place, like an elevator in time, or even get far enough away that SCP-096 focuses on closer targets. Two to three SCP-207s is often enough for this.
While SCP-096 is fast enough to run through a Tesla Gate without stopping, they may still be useful for getting away from SCP-096 as less experienced players are more likely to stop.

To take down SCP-096 successfully without the use of the [[Micro H.I.D.]], a group often needs to be very coordinated and be able to use good teamwork. A good strategy is to have some people act as bait to trigger SCP-096, then have the rest of the team shoot SCP-096 during its cooldown.
If the group is large enough, then most or all of the team can shoot at him during windup to either contain or deal massive damage to SCP-096. The most effective way to deal with SCP-096 is to shoot him during cooldown and windup. While the Hume Shield can protect with from a single person or a small group, it is always a good idea to shoot at SCP-096 if you know you are a target and there is no elevator near by. A group of targets shooting at SCP-096 during windup have a good chance of taking out his Hume Shield and damaging his HP, which can make it easier to take him down next time.
A common mistake people make is when a large group of people trigger SCP-096, only 3-4 people shoot him while the rest scatter or even close an elevator on their teammates. Doing this will make it extremely hard to contain SCP-096.
==Strengths and Weaknesses==
===Strengths:===
* Has multiple abilities that makes it very difficult for targets to escape in most circumstances.
* Can access targets behind gates.
* High mobility while enraged.
* Incredibly resistant to small amounts of damage due to Hume Shield.
===Weaknesses:===
* Little synergy with [[SCP-079]]. (e.g) Breaking doors that 079 could otherwise have utilized to stall players.
* Is an easy target to hit while winding up or docile.
* Enemies are able to manipulate when 096 starts to enrage.
* Vulnerable to burst damage weapons such as the Logicer, MicroHID and Fragmentation Grenades when not enraged.
* People can easily wait out his rage with elevators.
* Easily contained if all or most of his targets shoot him during windup.
* People looking at the floor.
* Large Groups.
===Try Not To Cry===
While in the Docile Stage, the player can perform the Try Not To Cry ability by pressing {{Key Press|Rightclick}}. It can be performed against any flat surface, and only while SCP-096 is standing on a flat surface.
While this ability is active, SCP-096 crying noise will gradually quiet down before becoming nearly silent.
Holding down {{Key Press|Rightclick}} will greatly increase the speed at which SCP-096 quiets down. Movement is locked while this ability is active. The gradually quieting down effect gives the illusion of SCP-096 walking away.

SCP-096 is one out of seven playable SCP classes within SCP: Secret Laboratory.
SCP-096 is a tall, pale, humanoid entity that will attempt to kill anyone who happens to see its face.

SCP-079 and SCP-096 can never spawn in the same round.

Operational Guides

Class Operational Guide

A tall, pale humanoid capable of tearing through waves of heavily armed forces. It cries and cries and never seems content.

You wish you could comfort it.

You wish someone had told you to close your eyes.

You wish you knew the danger you were in when the crying finally stopped.

___
“SCP-096 was recently transferred to Site-02, under the supervision of Dr. Daniels. It was the topic for weeks. Since then, SCP-096 has been our primary test subject for Project: Segmentum. Our efforts seem to be in vain. Despite the countless setbacks, Daniels is still adamant about killing the damn thing. For something so shy, it doesn’t have an issue with crying so loudly. You know, there are times where I’d wonder if it actually feels empathy. Would it understand if someone tried to comfort it? That being said, I can’t forget the shrieks of terror and the streaks of blood. Thinking about it makes me sick. I don’t know what was worse; the frantic screams, the shredding of flesh, or the sobbing that followed.”
-Dr. Katelyn Wright, Head of Project: Segmentum

Abilities Operational Guides

- [Passive] — Scopophobia

When a human looks at SCP-096’s face, or injures SCP-096 in any way, it will enter a state of rage. While in rage, SCP-096 moves extremely fast and all humans who viewed its face or damaged SCP-096 will be highlighted for the duration. SCP-096 gains access to additional abilities: Melee Attack and Charge.

___
“The object doesn't want to be looked at, and, as a psychologist, I have to wonder why that is. After some time studying it, I’m beginning to wonder about the possibility this object has some form of latent anxiety about its appearance."

- [M1 Enraged] — Melee Attack

Press the Attack button while in SCP-096’s rage mode to perform a Melee Attack. Hitting a human with a Melee Attack will damage them severely. Hitting a door with Melee Attack will destroy it, rendering it completely unusable.

___
“It attacks with such a degree of violence and hatred. It’s hard not to wonder what lies behind its, supposedly, blank and soulless eyes.”

- [M2 Enraged] — Charge

Activate Charge to send SCP-096 lunging in the direction they’re facing, destroying all doors and damaging all players in their way. Activating Charge on a gate causes SCP-096 to forcefully pry them open and get through.

___
“A common belief is that letting out your negative emotions relieves you of them. However, for the object, I can’t help but think that it only worsens its sorrow.”

- [M2 Docile] — Try Not to Cry

Activate Try Not to Cry while near a vertical surface to lean against it. When leaning against a flat surface, SCP-096 will gradually grow quieter before becoming nearly silent.

___
“My analysis has led me to conclude that SCP-096 possesses a child-like psychological state, acting purely on its desires and emotions. It doesn't have the cognitive ability to process how it feels. Though, of course, prior analysis is purely conjecture. How are we to understand something as bizarre as this with human psychology?”

In Game

SCP-096 spawns in Heavy Containment Zone in its docile state. SCP-096 has a very audible cry that can warn players of its position. SCP-096 acts as an offensive SCP class, meant to disperse groups of people.

Hume Shield

 • SCP-096 has a base Hume Shield value of 600.
 • If SCP-096 takes no damage for 10 seconds, its Hume Shield will regenerate by 15 HS/s.
 • While SCP-096 has Hume Shield, a distortion-like effect can be seen around their body.

Abilities

Scopophobia

The Scopophobia is broken up into four stages, Docile, Distressed, Raging and Calming. SCP-096 starts the match in the Docile Stage.

While Docile, SCP-096 produces an audible crying sound. Hume Shield will regenerate at a rate of 15 HS/s while Docile if SCP-096 has not taken damage for ten seconds. The Try Not To Cry ability can be used while in the Docile Stage.
If a human looks at SCP-096's face or attacks SCP-096, they become a target. For ten seconds after a target is added, SCP-096 can press the R key to enter the Distress Stage. A small icon will appear in the corner while the timer is active. If the timer ends before the key is pressed, all current targets lose their status as a target.

While Raging, SCP-096 will begin to loudly scream, and is unaffected by the "audio dampening" effect caused by C.A.S.S.I.E. announcements. SCP-096's maximum Hume Shield will be cut to half of its current value, and its regeneration is paused. The Melee and Charge abilities can be used while in the Raging Stage. Pressing the E key on a gate will cause SCP-096 to force the gate to open and slip through. Other SCPs can slip through the gate at the same time, but humans will instantly die if they attempt to, including non targets.
Raging lasts 20 seconds and a meter on screen will slowly deplete to represent the remaining time. Each additional target will add an extra three seconds to this stage, but will never succeed 35 seconds. After the timer ends, SCP-096 will enter the Calming Stage.

While Calming, SCP-096's speed is lowered and their Hume Shield, if not depleted, will be returned to its previous levels. The red screen tint will slowly fade away. This process last only a couple of seconds before SCP-096 re-enters the Docile Stage, where they can immediately gain targets again.

Melee

While in the Raging Stage, the player can perform a melee attack with Left Click. The attack has a fairly large arc and will deal 85 damage to targets, with non-targets taking no damage at all. The attack is fairly fast and its wide arc makes it able to hit players easily.

Charge

While in the Raging Stage, the player can perform a charge attack with Right Click. The attack will make SCP-096 charge forward in one direction, with little control to turning. Targets hit by this attack will take 90 damage and receive the Concussed Status Effect for ten seconds. Non-targets hit by Charge will only take 45 damage and receive the effect for four seconds. This ability has a five second cooldown.

Try Not To Cry

While in the Docile Stage, the player can perform the Try Not To Cry ability by pressing Right Click. It can be performed against any flat surface, and only while SCP-096 is standing on a flat surface.
While this ability is active, SCP-096 crying noise will gradually quiet down before becoming nearly silent.
Holding down Right Click will greatly increase the speed at which SCP-096 quiets down. Movement is locked while this ability is active. The gradually quieting down effect gives the illusion of SCP-096 walking away.
